Z3 Ls or m5 swap

Hi guys

i have z3 2.8L , 2000 , automatic transmition , i have a swap project and i need your advice im planning to swap engine and make it manual transmition and change the diffrential .

what is the best swap ?
Ls swap ?
or
M5 E39 S62B50 swap ?

what is best ?

i heared from some mechanics that the Ls swap will make the wheels spins all the times on first second and third gears , which make thr car hard to drive ?

what do you think guts ?

what is best Ls or M5 swap ????

E36 E36 manual convertible top latches and cables

Is anyone parting out an old e36 convertible with a fully manual top? I am looking for the latch system for the top storage compartment lid, which is made up of the left and right latches, the cables that go from the latches to the center box, the center box, the cable that goes from the center box to the latch in the driverside(US) rear interior panel, as well as the handle and the bracket. Let me know, these are what i need to finish my manual top conversion.

Fast blinking turn signal, bulbs are OK

My right turn signal blinks fast, rear bulb is OK, front bulb 5W is lit with parking lights and daytime running lights, the 21W circuit does not fire. The 5W circuit does fire, (which is odd, I would think it would just stay on steady) so I have a dim fast signal light. Can it be the relay?

STILL overheating?!

We have a 2000 740il. A few weeks ago we cracked the radiator (long story). Soon after, the car started overheating. On my way to work one morning it overheated and I heard a loud pop. The coolant reservoir had blown apart. Since then we have replaced the reservoir, radiator, radiator shroud, t hose, bleeder screws, upper hose, thermostat, and water pump. Yet it's still overheating. It's not showing any of the usual signs of a blown head gasket. Also, we changed the upper hose tonight and when we lifted the hood, we found the old upper hose was flat instead of round, almost like it had been suctioned flat. Based on my research, we will try to bypass the heater tomorrow and see if that works. Any other ideas in case it doesn't? I'm really quite frustrated at this point. Any help at all would be appreciated :)

Loss of power, running rich, jumping and backfiring.

I've recently got my E21 running and she's been running like a dream for the last three weeks. I ran her down to the local coffee shop to scoop some free wifi and people watch. The ride there was great nothing out of the ordinary.

Fast forward to my departure and she turned over fine as I went to leave I noticed that she was struggling in first great the car seemed as of it wanted to die, then giving it gas almost 60% the car starts to jolt and bounce like it trying to gain power and stutters as it tries to gain rpms.

I put the car in N and Rev the motor and it struggles to pass 2500rpm then clean all the way up to about 7k no problem.

My assumption would be something to do with fuel/air mixture as the car smelt heavy of raw fuel and it seemed like it oukdnt decide if it wanted to go or die.

It was just odd it literally just happened out of the blue. No warnings she just decided to have a period.

Any help is appreciated.

17x7.5 ET41 F/ 17x9 ET8 R CB 72.6mm

No bends, no cracks, no leaks. Finish in good condition, 1 rear rim has some clear coat peeling, others have some mounting marks from a careless tire installer (see in pic)

Asking $800 for the set. Comes w/ free tires (sold with tires mounted, I will not take them off)
Front tires- Dunlop Direzza DZ100 still good, Rears are Kumho Ecsta, not so good.
local pick up only, Thousand Oaks, CA.

F36 Fuel

Just purchase 2016 Grand touring. The fuel specs say AKI 91, minimum AKI 89. In my area plus is 89 octane, 93 octane is premium. We don't have 91 octane. What's better to use? The 93 octane? Or the low end 89 octane that's specified?

Tips: quick and lazy way interior trim wrapping DIY

Hello,

This is my first post here and would like to share my experience to do interior trim wrapping on my E92.
Apparently after 10 years under the hot sun in Dubai, some parts on the steering wheel and gear stick-base were peeled off.
I am too lazy to take out the panels and don't want to spend so much time, so I just do a stick on vinyl wrap on it.
The result is not super amazing but I am happy with it :)

Fixed my replica LTW wing sag....kinda...

So, I bought this wing thinking it was an Abrahams product (guy I bought it from told me that), only to go home, test fist it on and low and behold.....sag. Anyway I kinda tossed it in the corner for about a year and just this week, since the car was going to paint, I had this idea of putting the wing outside in the Vegas sun (its been over 100 degrees for the past couple days) and adding some weight on top of it to try and fix the sag. I had the spare wheel on there for about 4 days: Keep in mind the top photo and the other 2 are about a year apart...



And there you have it! It kinda bowed itself out a little more than i expected, but hey..not bad. I know that the Vegas heat will eventually cause it to sag AGAIN, but I got this other crazy idea where when I get home, i plan on making some sort of "support pole" that I can put in between the wing and the trunk every now and then for "sag maintenance"...LOL. Course i'll eventually get a real LTW/GT or Abraham wing. What do you guys think? :paranoid:

Hey guys, I gave a 1995 320i and what I want to do is build it a clean street cruiser, doesn’t need to be a 10 second car but not a ricer. What should I do to make it look good and drive good? Also what should I do for the exhaust, should I just full straight pipe or one of my buddies put a glass pack on his Plymouth Laser and it sounds pretty good, just not sure if they sound good with the inline 6.

Hey everyone , I am just curious if anyone else has installed e39 mpars on their e32 , if so what hub rings or spacers or other setup are you running to compensate for the bore size difference. I am.not 100% which option I want to go with or the specific ones I should get . Any help would be appreciated alot . Thanks everyone!

Car overheats with no CEL or coolant leak

The car drives fine but I do notice usually when I’m on idle for a few minutes it would overheat with a red warning saying to stop driving now. I’m assuming it’s my AUX fan or my radiator but I have no idea how to confirm, any idea? 06 750li

Melted front bumper/ possible electrical failure?

New day, new problem, today when i came to car i noticed something wrong on the left side of my bumper, i thought it was another parking hit accident but once i came closer i noticed a burned patch, its small patch maybe 5x4 cm maximum burned area, i dont have photo at the moment but i've marked i with the red on the example. Is there some kind of electrical wiring running there that could cause this kind of meltdown?

Stoptech Calipers Binding

I’m running a ST-40 332 mm front brake setup that I installed about 15 years and about 120 track events ago. I rebuilt them about five years ago. Recently, I’ve been having issues with the pistons not moving freely in the bore, resulting in drag and excessive heat buildup. I rebuilt them again recently, but that didn’t help. I’m wondering if there may be some buildup of corrosion products behind the seal ring. I managed to boil my fluid at Road Atlanta early this week for the first time ever, so I need to do something. I didn’t want to start scratching around the groove with a pick or something and risk damaging the sealing surface.

Anybody else have this issue? Time for new calipers? Thinking of switching to the AP setup from Essex. I’m still running 17” wheels, so I can’t get too crazy with upgrades.

These are the seats that were in my sons 320i that got totaled. Guy stopped by to look at them and said they were not E21 seats, possibly a very old BMW seat or Porsche.... No factory head rest on it.
Any info is appreciated! Thanks
